Le scénario est inspiré de la vie du grand footballeur Salif Keita. L'action, transposée en Guinée, reprend les premiers épisodes de son itinéraire. Ce film a été présenté au tout premier FIFEM, en 1998. A thoroughly engaging adventure story, The Golden Ball follows Bandian, a boy-wonder on the soccer field, from his village in the bush through a series of hilarious and not so funny contretemps to superstardom in France. He’s assisted on his way by his hometown witch doctor, a young French doctor who gifts him with a real football, a dwarf who offers him a brother’s love, soccer star Karim, and a canny businessman with an eye for the main chance. Cheik Doukouré’s second feature celebrates the powerful dream of becoming an African soccer star, a dream that is pursued by kids in innumerable small villages who play in the dust with bare feet and footballs made of rags. When she discovers that the winners of the school basketball tournament get to travel abroad and play at the Prince's championships, she knows that she has only a short amount of time to transform herself into a sports star. Bandian est un garçon de douze ans qui court très vite et le foot est toute sa vie. Ses copains l'appellent «le turbo de Makono». Makono, c'est le village de cases où il partage son temps entre travaux domestiques, école et tirs au but. C'est sûr, ses copains l'ont prédit, il sera un grand footballeur… Tout se précipite le jour où son amie Isabelle, jeune médecin sans frontières, lui offre un vrai ballon de foot en cuir. Un coup de pied va changer son destin et l'amène à fuir son village...
Kids in da Hood raconte la touchante histoire d’Amina, une jeune Africaine arrivée en Suède il y a 3 ans. Afin d’éviter la déportation et en attendant leur permis de résidence, Amina et son grand-père doivent se cacher des autorités. Ils sont gentiment hébergés par Johan, un jeune musicien punk. Mais lorsque le grand-père d’Amina meurt subitement, la fillette voit son univers basculer.
Nelly est une petite « bolée » qui adore les livres et idolâtre le prince du Luxembourg, qui partage sa passion pour l’espace. Lorsqu’elle apprend que l’équipe de basket-ball de son école se rendra au Luxembourg pour une compétition, elle décide de se joindre à eux. Elle prend une entente avec Max, un as du basket de 16 ans : Nelly fait les devoirs de Max, qui, en échange, lui montre comment jouer au basket-ball.
